“Meet Me Halfway” What’s it About?

“Meet Me Halfway” pulls you in with its immersive, atmospheric mood, then propels you forward with its consistent driving motion. Inspired by that moment of clarity you get when you finally make a decision to move forward from an unbalanced relationship, it is both powerful and hopeful in messaging. Recorded in Scott’s home studio, the song was principally written and sung by Marissa (and features her newfound guitar skills), while Scott engineered, produced and performed other instruments as needed.

I [Marissa] spent much of my youth in relationships that lasted well beyond the time they should have. I wanted to capture the optimism I felt early on in the lyrics. The story unravels as the song progresses. Scott and I worked collaboratively with the instrumentation but he took on the production role and knew exactly what I was trying to accomplish with the eerie sounds and swelling guitars underneath. I feel we captured this foreboding and constant motion of being propelled forward in the soundscapes we created. The choruses hit just as my realizations did in those relationships. Powerful and empowering despite the demise — I was ultimately heading in a better direction.
